The paper presents the effect of KNO3 application on the quality of potato and sugar beet crops. The experiments were carried out in different variants. On different rates of potassium which proceed from KCl there has been used potassium nitrate by spreading, fertilization and watering application on potato crop and by foliar sprayings on sugar beet crop. Potassium nitrate applied on fraction (total rate of 115-120 kg a.i./ha) during the vegetation of potato crop, supplied with potassium from KCl of 35-85 kg a.i./ha, brought an important increase of tubercules of 6.6-13.3 t/ha and led to an increase of resistance against disease, to preserve and improve the quality of yield in commercial aspect. It also led to improvement of the content of starch and raw protein as compared to the variant in which it has been provided a hundred percent potassium from KCl. An increased yield of roots and white sugar, obtained as a result of foliar application of KNO3 (max. 5 percent) and Magnisal ( percent) was of 2.5-3.7 t roots/ha and 450-710 kg white sugar/ha, which signifies a good acceptance of KNO3 by plants - 7.7-11.8 kg/ha/1 kg KNO3 raw substance in white sugar yield.
