The results showed significant difference among genotypes in all characters except harvesting period and ratio between male and female flowers. Reciprocal effects were significant in number of fruits per plant, length of mesial vine and flesh thickness. Non-additive gene action showed complete dominance in harvesting date, yield per plant, length of mesial vine, length of internode and flesh thickness. Number of fruits per plant in direct crosses displayed over dominance, while the other characters showed incomplete dominance. Epistasis appeared in length of mesial vine of reciprocal crosses and in flesh thickness of direct crosses. Taiwan variety was chosen for population improvement since it displayed the highest general combining ability in more fruits per plant, shorter length of mesial vine, higher number of lateral vines, lower first node bearing female flower and flesh thickness. The cross of Tra Dek Bin x Taiwan displayed the highest specific combining ability in more fruits per plant and higher number of lateral vines. The number of lateral vines per plant, length of internode, flesh thickness and number of fruits had significant positive effect on yield per plant while the effect of first node bearing female flower, length of mesial vine and harvesting date were negatively correlated to yield.
