Genetic divergence of selected mulberry genotypes.
1994
Cardenas O.P.
The study was conducted to determine the genetic divergence of 20 mulberry genotypes to serve as basis for the selection of parents for future hybridization program. Five clusters were formed based on the D square values of 10 quantitative characters of the 20 genotypes. Results showed that cluster formation was not purely guided by geographic diversity. To be able to obtain hybrids with superior recombinants, the future breeder can combine genetically diverse parents by crossing genotypes under clusters 2 and 5; 1 and 5; 4 and 5; 3 and 5; 3 and 4; and 2 and 4.
