1996
Sawalha H.D. | Mansour A.N.
A virus isolate was isolated fom fields in the Jordan Valley and Al-Hallabat areas. Identification as Alfalfa Mosaic Virus (AMV) was based on some preliminary studies on host range, mode of transmission and serology. Incidence of Alfalfa Mosaic Virus was highly correlated with the age of alfalfa plants, that ranged from 11-43% in the less than 1 year old fields, 50-70% in 1-2 years old fields, and 80-100% in 2-3 years old alfalfa fields. Maximum virus infectivity and /or content in alfalfa fields occured during the end of October and December in Al-Hallabat and the Jordan Valley, respectively. The minimum value occurred during summer months in both regions.
