The effects of bulblet (clove) size on growth and yield of garlic were studied at the NWFP Ag. University, Peshawar. Small (<1.0g) size cloves were sown as control and or fertilized with nitrogen (120 kg/ha), phosphorus (90 kg/ha) alone and in combination. Large size cloves without fertilization sprouted earlier, enhanced plant height, number of leaves and maturity. The increase in yield (10.75 ton/ha) from small size cloves. The reason could be that the large size cloves had no effect on the bulb size or number of bulblets per bulb. Nitrogen and phosphorus had favorable effects on the yield.
