Soil survey [of the Pulangi 3 project area, Valencia, Bukidnon, Mindanao Island]: soil and land resources appraisal and training project Philippines. Field document 1.
1980
The Pulangi 3 project area comprises approximately 52,000 ha of land, which is segregated into three major landscapes: (i) the alluvial landscape; (ii) the young volcanic landscape, which occupy approximately equal areas, and (iii) the old volcanic and sedimentary landscape, which as regards its area and its agricultural potential, is only of minor importance. The main crops grown in the survey area are paddy rice (irrigated and rainfed) and corn. Smaller areas are under corn/upland rice rotations, sugarcane or native pasture. Based on differences in parent material, physiographic position, depth, drainage and texture, fourteen soil series, three variants of soil series, and one soil phase have been distinguished. Series, variants and phases have been subdivided according to differences in slope, erosion class, boulder/rock outcrops and flooding into a total of 63 mapping units.
