Four lots of soybean seed collected from Northern Thailand were stored with initial moisture contents of 9.4-9.7%, at 28+-4 deg Centigrade and then periodically tested every four weeks for germination percentages and storage fungi, especially Aspergillus spp. In all samples, increase of infected seeds was accompanied by decrease of germination percentages. Eight groups (12 species) of Aspergillus were recorded from soybean seeds plated on malt salt agar. Aspergillus glaucus group and A. flavus group were found at high percentages in every sample. Keys for identificatin of these species are presented in this thesis. Dusting applicatin of six chemicals including Benlate, Botran, Captan, Delsine, Thiram and Vitavax were conducted on soybean seeds in order to evaluate their fungicidal effeciencies on the inhibition of the Aspergillus spp. Delsine and Captan effectively inhibited growth of Aspergillus spp. and had no effect on the germination of soybean seeds when seeds were sown on wet towels after being treated.
