Anthelmintic activity of single oral doses of pyrantel tartrate 2 at the rrates of 5, 10 and 20 milligrams per kilogram were determined by the field test method against Strongyloides papillosus in 28 buffalo calves. Pyrantel tartrate at the rrate of 5 milligram per kilogram was less effective (40.2 per cent) in reducing S. papillosus eggs in the first week posttreatment. The drug was 53.1 to 67.4 percent effective in reducing the eggs during the second week to the sixth week posttreatment. Pyrantel tartrate at the rrate of 10 milligrams per kilogram was less effective (51.1 per cent) in reducing S. papillosus eggs in the first week during the second week to the sixth week posttreatment. Pyrantel tartrate at the rate of 20 milligrams per kilogram was fairly effective (80.9 to 83.9 per cent) in reducing S. papillosus eggs during the first week to the sixth week posttreatment. The drug was highly effective (91.2 to 96.5 per cent) in reducing the eggs during the seventh week to the twelfth week posttreatment.
