Six crosses of eggplant: G2 x G1, G2 x P2, G2 x W3, P2 x G1, G1 x W3 and P2 x W3 were studied on the inheritance of agronomic characters such as plant height, flowering date, fruit shape, fruit weight, number of fruits per plant, and yield per plant. The latter 2 characters were found to express significant heterosis over mid-parent and high-parent. Gene actions of each character were studied by generation mean analysis consisting of P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2. Additive gene action was important in all characters studied except yield per plant, which was largely conditioned by the interaction of dominance x dominance. All characters except yield per plant are highly heritable. Also a high and positive correlation was found between number of fruits per plant and yield per plant while a negative correlation with intermediate to high magnitude was found between fruit weight and number of fruits per plant as well as between flowering date and yield per plant.
