Paclobutrazol was applied as foliar spray or soil drench to 6-7 year-old. Paclobutrazol at concentrations of 1,000 and 2,000 ppm was applied as foliar spray and at concentrations of 10 gm.(ai.) and 20 gm.(ai.) as soil drench. The results showed that foliar spray of both 1,000 and 2,000 ppm paclobutrazol reduced the length of new shoot by 72.82-85.21 %, leaf area by 20.99-48.05 %, number of total new flush leaves by 10.52-11.90 %, increased diameter of terminal shoots by 29.86-35.45 %, number of flowering shoots by 40.53 % and 43.33 % respectively, number of panicle per flush 36.23-82.93 % but had no significant effect on number of leaves. Paclobutrazol significantly increased number of florets per flush but not affected on number of florets per panicle while the length of panicle was reduced by 31.21-55.07 %. The panicle of treated plants had a positive correlation between number of florets per flush with width and number of branches of panicle but had a negative correlation with the length of panicle. Male and female ratio of treated plants was slightly reduced. After paclobutrazol application 60-75 days, treated plants began flowering.
