Randomized Complete Block Design was used to compare agronomic performance of F2 progenies of each cross and their parents. The following agronomic traits were recorded and analysed: days to flowering, plant height, disease resistance, 100 seed weight, seed weight per head, dry head weight, seed number per head, leaf number, leaf length, and stalk diameter. Correlations between days to harvest, height, leaf number, leaf length and stalk diameter were calculated. The results showed that the modified-4-way cross could be used as a method for the improvement of most characters. Although the difference was statistically non-significant, the higher value of standard deviation indicated that there was a higher degree of genetic variability which allowed more flexibility for selection when compared to backcrossing. Nevertheless, in group 2, statistical difference was significant in two characters: plant height and 100 seed weight. For the correlation study, positive correlations were found between days to flowering and leaf number as well as leaf length, plant height and leaf number, leaf number and leaf length as well as stalk diameter and leaf length and stalk diameter.
