The composition of fatty acids in larvae of predaceous bugs Podisus maculiventris Say and Perillus bioculatus Fabr. during their feeding on different insects species was studied. Differences between these two predators in the characters of the assimilation of polyunsaturated (linolenic C18:2 and linolenic C18:3) fatty acids were revelaled. It was shown that Podisus larvae assimilated only a part of linoleic and particularly linolenic acid, present in a prey, whereas Perillus larvae were characterized by high content of these polyunsaturated fatty acids coinciding with their content in the food consumed. Localization and pH-optimums for the activity of lipolytic enzymes in different parts of the alimentary canal in both bugs species were determined. It was established that contrary to amylolytic and proteolytic enzymes found in Perillus and Podisus salivary glands, the lipase activity was absent in this part of bugs alimentary canal. Differences were revealed in the localization and the level of the lipase activity in various midgut segments of investigated insect predators belonging to one family but differing in nutritional specialization. The results obtained allow to check the data on nutrition mechanism of Podisus and Perillus larvae and are important for scientific grounds of development of their artifical food substrates.
