This study was conducted to compare the effect of conventional and no tillage practices on silage corn yield. The effect of different nitrogen rates under above tillage systems was also determined. The trial was settled on chernozem soil type. The studied factors did have a certain effect on the corn yield. Considering control plot following conventional tillage, under no tillage practice silage corn yield increased by 11. The application of nitrogen fertilizers contributed very significantly to the yield increase, for no tillage practice with an average silage yield of 10.515 t d.m./ha at 80 kg N/ha application, while under conventional tillage equal silage yield of 10.066 t d.m./ha was obtained at the 120 kg N/ha application. Besides total energy requirements no tillage system can define as low-input technology that provides high productivity and sustainable agricultural production.
