Four selected advanced mutant lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) lines M1-30, M1-52, M1-563 and M1-596 along with the local parent, L-112, were evaluated for water-stress tolerance in the glass house. The lines M1-30, M1-52 and M1-563 had more filled pods, yield per plant and harvest indices (HI) under stress than L-112. M1-596 had the highest biomass production among lines, but its partitioning ability of assimilates towards pod development was very poor and it produced the lowest yield in all treatments. The water parameters data showed that the lines M1-30 and M1-596 combined high T (time taken to reach the point of stomatal closure of leaf) and low RWC (relative water content of leaves at the point of stomatal closure) values in the water-stressed treatments.
