This work contains a research on the ability of 18 different Rhizobium japonicum strains to synthesize growth matter of the gibberellin, indol and phenol types. The tested matter was separated with the help of thin-layered chromatography. The gibberellin type of growth matter gave the greatest number of blots. All of the tested strains were classified into 3 groups, according to their ability to produce the gibberellin type of growth matter. The tested strains also synthesized indol compounds. The developer of the phenol type of matter, also separated indol compounds. The developer of the phenol type of matter, also separated indol compounds. Not one visible blot, characteristic of phenol compounds, was obtained. The R. japonicum N1 is a rich producer of gibberelin and auxin types of growth matter, while strain 38a is a poor producer of this matter.
