Yield and nitrogen efficiency of corn grown under zero and conventional tillage systems [Philippines].
1985
Cena R.L.
Result showed that corn grown in zero and conventional tillage systems did not differ significantly in most of the agronomic characters including grain yield except in the number of days to emergence and silking. Nitrogen levels influenced corn borer damage rating, number of days to maturity and grain yield of corn. Zero tilled corn gave comparable efficiency to conventionally-tilled corn with 18.6 and 17.9 percent, respectively. Highest nitrogen efficiency was obtained from plants fertilized with 30 kg N/ha while lowest nitrogen efficiency of 11.3 percent was obtained from plant fertilized with 180 kg N/ha. Corn in conventional tillage system obtained a net return of P3,528.25/ha higher by P57.60 than corn in zero tillage system with a net return of P3,470.85/ha.
