The paper discusses the reproduction results following controlled mating. The experiment attempted to eliminate the effects of artificial mating-related operations (i.e., estrus synchronization, blind artificial insemination, pasture mating) used in a previous experiment. The study lasted two years. The following conclusions were reached: a) Fertility was lower than during the season in which blind artificial insemination had been practised, following estrus from synchronization and pasture mating; b) Sheep took longer in getting out the seasonal anestrum, with only approximately 80 percent of them reaching estrus after a two-month period; c) With Corriedale sheep, estrus seemed to cover a shorter period of time than with local sheep breeds; d) A proportion as high as 5 to 7 percent of the total number of sheep may not reach estrus at all throughout the season; e) Individual average mating season will likely be extremely short; f) There were many instances of delayed new estrus in sheep which remained unfertilized during mating; g) Fertility was increasingly low over the three successive years of reproduction monitoring. The overall conclusion was that sheep in the group under study showed a high hypofolliculinemia incidence.
