Pig health research concentrated on Streptococcus suis type 2, sarcoptic mange, leptospirosis and neonatal colibacillosis. Studies on artificial colostrum have recently commenced. Research on pig production continued to focus on the transgenic pig programme in collaboration with the University of Adelaide Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Nutrition research involves a major study to improve the accuracy of amino acid analysis, continued investigation of a range of grain legumes and determination of nutritional characteristics of a potential new feed grain, naked oats. Industry service delivery is organised from the NPRU.
