A field experiment was conducted to test the resistance of ten rice varieties to brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) in Trimurjo area, Central Lampung. Thirty experimental plots each measured 5 x 5 m were arranged in a randomized complete block design with rice varieties as the treatment and three replications (blocks). The number of brown planthoppers per rice hill was analyzed descriptively. Rating adopted from the International Rice Research Institute showed that the brown planthopper could thrive on all varieties tested. IR-10, IR-36, Cisanggarung, Krueng Aceh, Cikapundung, IR-64, and Cisadane were highly resistant to brown planthopper. While Way Seputih and IR-36 were resistant and Pelita 1-1 was moderately resistant.
