Four kinds of field crops including sweet corn, sesame, mungbean and groundnut, were grown in plots with and without groundnut residue at the Corn and Sorghum Research Center, Nakhon Ratchasima province during July to December 1987. During early growth stages, all crops grown in plots with groundnut residue showed less growth than those grown in plots without goundnut residue, as there was a competition for nitrogen for decomposition of groundnut residue. However, after the decomposition process completed, crops in plots with groundnut residue grew better and gave higher yields than those grown in plots without goundnut residue, with the exception of sesame which had high incidence of leaf blight in all plots.
