Potential rice yield using ORYZA 1 model.

Results of the present field study showed that grain yields of PSB cultivars (irrigated lowland) linearly increased with increased nitrogen (N) application. However, the linear regression model appears limited as it only shows mathematical extrapolation of the data. With the use of ORYZA 1, not only can estimate the potential rice yield in a given environment but substantiate the estimated yield with information on crop physiological processes. Dates of seeding and transplanting, plant density, weather data and time course of leaf N content are the minimum requirement to run the model.
