To reinforce the national fertility improvement project and to find out the duration of integrated treatment of fertility improvement, the experiment was carried out from 1981 to 1984 on the moderately well drained sandy textured paddy soils. The chemical properties in the plot of continual improvement was prominently improved while in the plots of residual effect increased the extractable cations. The content of clay, the rate of liquid phase and the shearing resistance were increased in the plots of adding red earth while the friction resistance decreased. The contents of soluble silicates and organic matter were increased up to 2nd year of the integrated improvement and the residual effect seemed to be continued for 3 years.
