The average dry matter content of boiling sludge, a by-product of glue boiling was 41.6 per cent. The dry matter consisted of 65.2 g/100g of crude protein and 4.2 g/100g of crude ash. Perilous quantity of heavy metals (Hg, As, Pb, Cd) could not be detected in the skin sludge. Feeding of feeds with 10 per cent of crude protein, containing extracted soy been flour, as a protein source, and 5, 10, as well as 15 g/100 g of skin sludge, did not cause any pathomorphological changes on rats after 10 days of consumption. However, consumption of feed, body-mass gain and feed/gain ratio in protein, characterized by NPR index, decreased in the rats. The effect of edible pork fat and skin sludge, equvivalent of 5 g/100 g of crude fat, was practically comparable.
