Pesticide residue in agricultural products particularly in vegetables and fruits is a growing concern for producers, traders and consumers in many parts of the world. Several efforts have been made to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides particularly the use of synthetic insecticides. One such efforts is the development of botanical insecticides which are safer than synthetic insecticides. Hundreds of plant species have been tested and evaluated for their biological activity to many economic insect pests. However, most of studies focused on the single extract testing only. In this paper, we aim to determine the compatibility of Annonaceae and Meliceae plant extract mixtures in causing mortality effect to one of destructive insect pest on cabbage, Crocidolomia pavonana(F.) (Lepidoptera:pyralidae). Two species of Annonaceae, Annona squamosa and A. muricata, and two species of Meliaceae, Azadirachta indica and Aglaia odorata, were combined with 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2 (w/w) comparisons and six test concentrations. Index of mixture combination(IC) was used to evaluate the compatibility of the extract mixtures. In the single tests, extracts of A. squamosa and A. muricata showed higher mortality activity than extracts of Meliceae based on their LD sub 95s. Generally, all combinations showed synergistic action with IC values 1, except for the combination of A. odorata and A. muricata extracts (1:2) which showed antagonistic action with IC value 1. Several combination of extract mixtures showed high insecticidal activity to C. pavonana and synergistic interaction such as extract mixtures of Aglaia odorata and Annona squamosa (2:1 and 1:1 comparisons), Azadirachta indica and A. squamosa (1:1 comparison).
