Altogether 17 algal samples were collected from different habitats of Lahore and Azad Kashmir. Out of them 25 algal species are found to belong to 19 genera and 5 phyla. The phylum Cyanophycota was represented by 4 species belonging to 3 genera, Volvocophycota by 11 species to 9 genera, Bacillarophycota by 4 species to 4 genera, Xanthophycota by one species to one genus, Chlorophycota by 5 species belonging to 2 genera. The algal species of Volvophycota were found to be most dominant, next dominant species were of the phylum Chlorophycota, minimum number of species found of Xanthophycota and Cyanophycota and Bacillariophycota were represented by equal ratio of algal samples from different habitats from where data of temperature, pH and altitude were recorded.
