High-sedge rushes found in the Notec River valley are among the most highly valued biotopes of land fauna. They are characterized by highly-priced natural and landscape values. Due to numerous requirements and recommendations found in the Agricultural-Environmental Program of Package 2; Ecological Farming, the above grasses are of low quality with regard to their fodder value. On the other hand, however, these grasses provide a valuable raw material for the production of pellets and briquettes and find application as fuel in power generating industry. Investigations carried out on pellets to determine their energetic value, heat of combustion, ash and moisture content as well as biomass basic composition revealed their high calorific value 18.61 MJ/kg and heat of combustion (18.96 MJ/kg)
