Selenium as an essential trace element necessary for the proper functioning of the mammary gland and the body of the animal as a cofactor of enzymes glutathione peroxidase involved in antioxidant system. Regular addition of selenium in cows food is likely to meet the needs of organisms for him. Prepartus period in high dairy cows is accompanied by increased demands for energy that can not be provided with food, and cows are entering into a negative energy balance that leads to various metabolic disorders. From the results it is evident that the addition of selenium in foods during lactation cows may have a positive impact on their health and milk production.
