The article deals with canine and feline behavioral disorders. In the first part of the article the definition and the classification of behavioral disorders are given. The second part of the article embraces diagnostic procedures and different treatment modes of behavioral disorders in dogs and cats. For the purpose of the article behavioral disorders of pet animals are divided at primary behavioral disorders, secondary behavioral disorders and behavioral disorders of geriatric dogs and cats. The behavior consultation questionnaire is of the particular interest for the successful diagnosis of canine and feline behavioral disorders. treatment of behavioral disorders in dogs and cats may take many forms such as environmental modification, behavioral modification, environmental enrichment, treatment with psychoactive drugs, synthetic analogues of appeasing pheromones (pheromonotherapy), or alternative herbal remedis (essential oils or medicinal plants).
