Azotofiksin is a microbial nitrogen fertilizer whose active agents are rhizobial bacteria, which supply the plant with nitrogen from air in a symbiotic process with legumes. It is one of the oldest and in practice confirmed microbial preparation in production of economically important legumes, particularly soybean in Serbia. Azotofiksin provides more than 60% of N requirements in leguminous fodder and food crops in Serbia making the plant less dependent on soil N. The application of Azotofiksin with high effective strains of rhizobia specific and compatible with particular legumes clearly showed an increase in crop yield and quality of proteins in seeds and hay.
