Last years phenomenon 'organic products' became an even more global and interdisciplinary character. In the World, the growth of organic product farmers has been noticed. The role of retail trade in distribution of organic products is becoming more important. Having all that in mind, in this article we will look, first, at the trend and characteristics of retail development of organic foods, observed globally, according specific countries and formats (types of stores). After that we will indicate the most important determinates of development of retail organic food and at the end we will, as the primary goal of this work , look at theoretical-methodology and empirical issues, as well as specific measurements of financial performances of retail organic food . Research of these issues is, at the purpose of overview of practical dimension, based on the latest relevant empirical data. During which the simplest primary traditional research methodology was applied. The research results should serve as the basis for the creation of appropriate policies and development strategies, especially for the construction of an integrated system of managing business and financial performance of retail organic food in the future. This is particularly true of retail originating from a country with a distinction of organic market development, as is the case with Serbia.
