One of the leading areas of modern biotechnology is to develop plants resistant to pathogens using genetic engineering methods. The genetic transformation of Impatiens hawkerii Bull. with Agrobacterium tumefaciens C58C1pac1 was observe in this study, and the aim was to derive plants carrying the gene for pac1 resistance to tomato spotted wilt virus and other plant RNA viruses. I. hawkerii Bull. transformants on a selective medium rapidly failed, and not a single clone survived the fifth passage. This decline was due to great susceptibility of this type to kanamycin or failure of the transformation.
