Selecting the most appropriate trees for riverbank landscaping is an important engineering task. A properly selected tree will appreciate in value for a long time and conversely, an improper choice might soon become unhealthy or die. This paper presents an evaluation of seven alternative tree species based on different prioritization methods (EV, AN, LLS) within Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) framework. Based on biological and economic criteria, Quercus robur L. (Pedunculate Oak) is the highest ranked species among the proposed ones. In order to preserve biodiversity in city landscapes it is recommended to select not only Penduculate Oak, but also another wet site tree species tolerant to stressful environment conditions in urban zones. Diversity in species composition confers protection against diseases and pests, therefore it decreases establishment and management costs and also it improves green space visual identity.
