This paper presents application of the EPA Storm Water management Model SWMM 5.0, published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), in an analysis of storm water drainage from the part of the urban area of the city of Zrenjanin (Serbia). Drained area is 36.75 ha and is divided into four catchment areas. Storm water drainage is constructed so to assure closed primary sewage flow outlet into the open Bagljas canal. The length of the sewage system is 920 m. Setting simulation parameters and model calibration enabled an efficient simulation of runoff water from catchment areas and its distribution within the sewage system. The results shown in tables, charts and longitudinal profiles of sewage system enabled profound analyses and led to a conclusion that the SWMM 5.0 model has potential in applications in our urban areas.
