Testing of morphological traits was carried out on the samples from three Sorghum genotypes: NS-Džin (forage sorghum), Zora (Sudan grass) and Siloking (interspecies hybrid), depending on the amount of nitrogen used to supplement plant nutrition in 2009 and 2010. The following parameters were tested: plant height, leaf mass, and leaf portion in the total biomass. The results showed significant variations in tested traits between the genotypes. The nitrogen in plant nutrition positively influenced the increase of the total biomass and the leaf portion within it. The effect of nitrogen depends on the amount and distribution of rainfall. The Siloking genotype had the highest total green biomass in the biennial average; the NS-Džin genotype had the largest leaf mass, whilst the Zora genotype had the largest leaf mass portion. The effect of the used nitrogen depended on weather conditions, i.e. rainfall distribution. Therefore the optimal nitrogen amount was 105 kg/ha in both years of testing.
