Atterberg plastic limit was determined in topsoil (Ap) and (Amo, AC and C) horizons of chernozems, as well as the contents of clay (less than 0.002 mm), the index of consistency Ic; colloid activity index (Ica); index hydrophilic clay fractions (Ih); and Bokel parameters A and B. The results of Atterberg plastic limits, taking into account all depths of the profiles under study, showed that the values of upper plastic limits (Wl) varied in a rather wide interval, from 25.50 to 49.50%, and the values of the lower plastic limits (Wp) varied in a considerably narrower interval from 11.30 to 30.00%. The calculated plasticity index (Ip) varied from 9.30 to 21.80 which, according to Liberoth (1969), cited by (Durović et. al. 2008) classification, characterises moderately to very plastic soils. Correlation coefficient (r = 0.4872; 0.5645) between Wl and Wp and the clay content (less than 0.002mm) indicates that the particle-size distribution, i.e. the clay content, had the decisive effect on the value of plasticity index.
