The goal of the experiment was to compare the reactions of Acer tataricum ssp. ginnalaMaximowicz, Vesmael (1890) seedlings to different water regimes. At the beginning of June as the shoots grew rapidly different water regimes were introduced. The amount of water provided to plants during vegetation season was three to one in favour of controlled seedlings. The amount of chlorophyll in leaves of the seedlings was measured during the vegetation season. An insignificant difference in the amount of chlorophyll was found between the stressed and controlled seedlings. The average amount of chlorophyll in the stressed plants was about 17 mg per square m higher than in the controlled ones. The introduction of different water regimes on the Acer tataricum ssp. ginnala Maximowicz, Vesmael (1890) seedlings caused an increase in the amount of chlorophyll for selected units of the leaf area. This reaction was probably caused by slower development of shoots and by the effort of the stressed seedlings to preserve their photosynthetic activity.
