The contribution is focused on assessment of economic benefits of an effectively integrated environmental management program. It enables an organization to optimize its beneficial effects on the environment and reduce the negative effects to a minimum, simultaneously with an increase in economic efficiency of the business. The aim of the contribution is to document that the introduction of environmental management system in company Metsä Tissue Inc., Žilina provides an increase in economic benefits. Our conclusions are based on fulfilment of company short- and long-term environmental goals, costs of raw water process and energy costs calculated per kg (ton) of tissue paper produced in 2002-2008.
