In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus on the basis of results of researches in model-field experiments there were presented data on rates of straw mineralization in sod- podzolic soils and release of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium depending on kind of straw and nitrogen fertilizers. Research results showed that in the conditions sod-pozdolic soils the most intensive rate of straw decomposition was taking place in course of the first two months after straw incorporation into soil. The intensity of mineralization of straw in light loamy soil was on 5% higher in comparison with the sandy loam one. Over the autumn period without application of additional nitrogen the maize straw decomposed on 44%; lupine – on 39%; barley – on 35% and rape – on 15%. On sod-podzolic soils regardless of straw type there was released 82-92% of potassium, 40-45% of phosphorous, 8-31% of nitrogen out of its initial content. In eleven months there were the following indexes: 95-99% of potassium, 70-90% of phosphorous, 27-60% of nitrogen, 69-83% of calcium and 50-92% of magnesium.
