In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus the problem of tubers mechanical damage during potato (Solanum tuberosum) harvesting as a precondition of its phytosanitary condition during storage is designated. Zone potato varieties of different ripeness groups predisposition under western region of Belarus conditions to the tubers mechanical damage is determined. Differentiation of the tubers resistance to mechanical load depending on the method of mechanical harvesting is shown. Thus, as a result of the research it was found that the recognized in the south-western region of Belarus potato varieties of different maturity groups (early - Lila and Uladar; medium early Dina and Briz; mid-season - Skarb and Yanka; middle-late - Zhuravinka and Mag; late - Atlanta, Aktsent) were susceptible to mechanical damage of tubers in course of mechanized harvesting. Method of harvesting preconditioned the character of distribution of resistance of tubers to mechanical stress. When harvesting with combine there was marked the prevailance (in 77.5% of cases) of non-resistant group, in case of harvesting with - potato digger relatively resistant ones.
