PRODUCTIVE MANAGEMENT OF A PIG FARM FOR PRODUCING USEFUL PIG LUNGS | GESTION PRODUCTIVA DE UNA GRANJA PORCINA PRODUCTORA DE PULMONES ÚTILES

Español; castellano. Se evaluó el comportamiento durante un año de una unidad de producción porcina, cuyo objetivo es la producción de pulmones útiles de cerdos para la fabricación de surfacén®. Se determinaron los rasgos de comportamiento animal, producción de pulmones útiles, efecto del trimestre y principales agentes causales de problemas respiratorios. La ganancia media diaria, la conversión alimentaria y la mortalidad en la etapa de preceba fueron de 400 g, 2.41 kg/kg y 7.7% respectivamente. Los mejores resultados productivos se observaron en el primer y cuarto trimestre con un descenso en el segundo y tercer trimestre, en coincidencia con los meses donde las humedades relativas y temperaturas fueron más altas. Se sugiere que la producción de pulmones útiles no es constante en todos los trimestres comportándose mejor en el primero y en el cuarto. El agente causal de mayor incidencia en los procesos respiratorios fue Streptococcus spp.

Inglés. The performance during one year of a pig farm ifor producing useful lungs for manufacturing surfacen®, was evaluated. The animal performance traits, production of useful lungs, effect of the quarter and main causal agents of respiratory problems, were determined. The average daily gain, feed conversion and mortality in the category of weaning were 400 g, 2.41 kg/kg and 7.7% respectively. The best productive results were found in the first and fourth quarters whereas a decrease was observed during the second and third quarters, with months where relative humidity and temperature were the highest during the year. It is suggested that useful lungs production is not constant in every quarter, with better results in first and fourth quarter. The causal agent of high incidence in respiratory processes was the Streptococcus spp.
