Checo. The incidence of smuts (Tilletia caries and Tilletia controversa) on wheat seed was evaluated since 2001 using magnification 200x in microscope. In this case the differences in the form of chlamydospores are distinct. The contamination of soil with Tilletia controversa is more important than in the case of Tilletia caries. Spores of Tilletia controversa germinate in lower temperature, they need light for germination and therefore the incidence of this smut is more dependent on weather. In 2011 and 2012 the incidence of Tilletia caries in our country was approximately the same, the incidence of Tilletia controversa was substantially lower. Up to this time the explanation for the smuts infection process is lacking. New concept of parasitism demonstrates that the growth of infection thread in the host depends on redox potential in host cells. The parasite does not have sufficiently powerful terminal oxidase, but it finds it in the host. The relationship of the host and his parasite is very dynamic.
