Physiological effects of bio and organic fertilization on rosemary plants grown under safe agriculture conditions
2005
El-Tatawy, N.G.
Pot experiment was carried out during two successive seasons 2008 and 2009 to investigate the effect of organic fertilizer as compost (5ton/ Fed.), biofertilizers (Azotobacter chroococcum and Bacillus megaterium) (5ml/plant) and humic acids (1liter/ fed.) alone and in combination of them on growth characteristics, oil yield and its components and chemical composition of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) herb, in comparison with the recommended dose of NPK as (control) added at the rate of 200 kg N/ fed. as ammonium nitrate (33.5% N), 100 kg., P20S/ fed. as calcium superphosphate (15,5% P2O5) and 100 kg K2O/ fed. as potassium sulfate (48% K2O). Data obtained clearly revealed that plants received the combination of Biofertilizers, Compost and Humic acids were recorded significant increments over control treatment with regard to growth characters (plant height, number of branches, fresh and dry weight as well as yield fresh weight) and chemical composition represented in nutrients (N, P, K, Zn and Fe) besides, total chlorophyll, carotenoids, total carbohydrates content and oil yield, regarding this, the major constituents of essential oil symbolized in (1,8-Cineol, Camphor, Ü-Pinene, â Pienene, Bornyl acetate and Borneol) has been also greatly affected by previous combination. Furthermore, indigenous hormones (Indole acetic acid -IAA and Gibberellic acid- GA3) were recorded an increment with (Biofertilizers + Compost + Humic acids) combination in comparison with either control treatment or all other treatments. These findings clearly indicate that combination of organic fertilizers biofertilizers and humic acids mixture could replace the application of mineral fertilizers in production of rosemary plant and consequently minimize the total costs and pollution of the agricultural environment.
