Determination of potentialities and limitations of recommended sloping lands for development of orchards in Mahneshan, Zanjan, Tharom and, Khodabandeh and Zarinabad districts, Zanjan Province

This research was conducted to evaluate the suitability of land was in slopping areas where a soil survey was performed previously, of 1:25000 scale in four districts of Zanjan province. Soil survey data was used to produce a land suitability classification map for the studied areas/ showing land areas with varied potentiality for development of fruit orchards in Zanjan Province. The results revealed that from a total land area of 53,600 ha/ only 3,970 ha was ranked as highly suitable for development of fruit orchards. The remaining lands showed varied decrease of limitation for fruit orchards establishment. The results obtained can be used by concerned organizations to deliberately select suitable lands for Fruit of ore hand production.
