For selection and release of high-yielding and adaptable barley varieties for cold regions, Iranian barley breeding program not only uses the national germplasm but also it employs introduction lines with appropriate traits (high-yielding, resistance to diseases, high quality, and wide adaptability) from international institutes to improve domestic varieties. ln this study, evaluation of three barley nurseries from rCARDA including comparison of barley line/verities in a yield trial test (IBYT-CH-CW) and two observation nurseries (lBCB-WF and IBON-CH-CW) was conducted in Karaj in 2090-2001. Analysis of variance for grain yield showed significant difference among genotypes in IB YT (CH-CW). Mean comparison of yield among genotypes revealed that genotypes 14, 8, 19, 10, 22, 7, and 3 had the highest yield among genotypes tested. However, because-of "the cold susceptibility of genotypes "14 and 8, only genotypes 19, 10,22, 7, and 3 were selected to be retested for their performance in the cold zone's preliminary barley yield trial in the following cropping season. Based on higher grain yield and other appropriate characteristics such as plant height and type, early maturity, resistance to diseases, cold tolerance and lodging 40 and 22 entries were selected from IBON-CH-CW and IBCB- WF observation nurseries, respectively, and were conducted to cold zone's preliminary barley yield trial in the following
