The aim of the research was to determine the kids live weight changes depending on the age of weaning. An optimal live weight of Latvian goat for the first time of coupling is from 30 to 32 kg. We have found that kids born with an average live weight 2.65 ± 0.045 kg come to such a weight in 10 to 11 months depending on the season of birth, methods of breeding and the number of kids born to a goat. The growth of live weight was different among the research groups. It was affected by both the period of suckling and weaning age. At the age of 30 days the live weight of kids weaned on the first day after birth was significantly different than weaned after 60 days — 7.71 ± 0.044 and 8.09 ± 0.074 (P is less than 0.05) respectively. When kids were 60 days old, the live weight was significantly higher for kids on the 60th day – 12.99 ± 0.119 (P is less than 0.05).
