Numerous researches had proved the capacity of intensive growth of mushrooms on various cellulosic substrates which, after fruiting, remain as a source of protein that can be used to feed livestock and poultry. This fact offers more flexibility to specialists in formulating nutrition recipes, meaning that one can use raw materials with a specific protein concentration. The performed researches aimed at studying the influence of nutritive substrate, from the production of mushrooms belonging to the genus Pleurotus, on the main productive indices of chickens. The experiments were performed on two groups (experimental and control groups), with 1-day old Rhode Island chickens. In the nutrition recipe given to the experimental group of chickens, some of the maize has been replaced with nutritive substrate from mushroom production (1.5%). The results of performed investigations allow us to formulate the following conclusions: 1) the use of nutritive substrate from mushroom production did not negatively affect the growth and development indices of chickens, 2) body weight, average daily gain, specific consumption and viability was practically the same in both groups, 3)maize substitution with the nutritive substrate from mushroom production decreased the cost of combined fodders used to feed chicks, 4)the use of nutritive substrate from mushroom production in the diet of chicks did not bring any physiological disorder in their body.
