2010
Perlas, F.B. | Ibarbia, S.A., Central Bicol State Univ. of Agriculture, Pili, Camarines Sur (Philippines)
The study was conducted in San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur [Philippines] covering a total area of 550 square meters. The area was previously planted with vegetables and corn for 10 years and now abandoned with vegetation dominated by cogon (Imperata cylindrica). The randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used with three treatments replicated three times. The treatments were the following: T1- Direct-seeding, T2- Bareroot Seedling and T3- Potted seedling. The percentage survival of jatropha was highly significant as influenced by planting methods. The potted seedlings had the highest average percentage survival from 14 DAP until the end of the experiment. Apparently, there is a declining on the rate of percentage survival in all methods due to the El Nino phenomenon.
