Basic characteristic of the regional development of Serbia is unequal economic development based on marginalization of agriculture. For all countries in transition, so for Serbia also, the issue of implementation of the agrarian field into economic development is present. Taking into account that agriculture has and important role in the economic development of Serbia, basic trends of further development should be pointed out. The topic of this paper should be focused on possibilities of financing agribusiness, creation of new legal environment, measures for harmonization of economic mechanisms for implementation of certain social goals, primarily in implementation of reforms and transition. The purpose of this paper is the improvement of agricultural production in Serbia, as a precondition of its competitiveness in the European Union market and other markets. Also, the goal is to enhance the standard of living and living conditions of rural population through countryside subsistence and development.
