The spatial integration of sheep markets in the Sudan A bivariate approach

This paper investigates regional integration of sheep markets in the Sudan, to test whether improvements in price linkages have taken place over the last decade. The results indicated that there were no long run equilibrium relationships between the investigated pairs in the period January 1980 to December 1984, but long run equilibrium relationships existed in the period January 1990 to December 2000 and the error correc¬tion terms were found to be significant but indicated prolonged periods of disequilibrium. Also, the short run integration was found to be weak. This result was expected, because the recent reforms cannot be fully effective until various structural bottlenecks in sheep marketing have been dealt with
