Regional disparities in the European Union consider being one of the biggest problems of the Slovak Republic. The aim of paper to analyze the contribution conditions for entrepreneurship for small and medium enterprises in the Slovak Republic. Also defines the advantages and disadvantages of small and medium enterprises, to overcome regional disparities and the background to employment of the rural population in Slovakia. The final section makes recommendations for improving the business environment and entrepreneurship in small and medium enterprises.
